CDT day 43: zero in East Glacier

June 16
Mileage: zero

Zeros… sometimes they just happen. And sometimes they happen at the perfect moment, because a critical mass of nobo turned sobo hikers happen to be in town, and you get to meet… all of them. The trail feels young! We’re all just newly minted sobos, starting out. The trail is new! Summer will last forever! Won’t it? What even is a trail? What even is this trail?

Tomorrow starts a 140 mile section to a closed resort in the middle of nowhere where they leave your resupply box in a bearbox outside. There will be more Montana- something called “the Bob”, something called “the wall”. The elevation profile is formidable.

I would like to crush now.
